Miniature poodles are
a "kick," and we love ours to death. There's never a dull
moment when there's a mini in the house. They're smart, full
of energy and fun, and seem to always be able to make you smile.
Ours get "poodle zoomies" and chase each other all over the house
like happy children in the playground. Some of them like to
play blanket games in bed in the evening, some of them are great
retrievers and will play ball endlessly and tirelessly with you, and
some of them love to perform great athletic and acrobatic feats as
they climb to the highest accessible points in the house or yard.
Minis can be somewhat mischievous at times, but not in a bad way.
Ours are the bosses of the bigger dogs and many of our friends
report that their minis boss around their bigger dogs too. No
matter what their individual personalities are like, we have loved
every single one of ours and we're sure you will too.
Miniature poodles are
hypoallergenic and are a perfect size for apartment living and
traveling in motorhomes or by plane.
Even if you are not living in an apartment, they are a perfect size
for people who don't want a "big" dog, but don't want something the
size of a large rat either. They are incredibly easy to house
train and are often being well on their way to being trained prior
to leaving as puppies to join their new home. The typical size
range for miniatures is 10 to 15 inches tall at the shoulders,
weighing in at about 10 to 15 pounds. Minis are perfect size lap
dogs and are tremendously devoted to the people they bond with.
Like other sizes of poodles, miniatures must be
groomed frequently to maintain their coat. The characteristic
that makes them hypoallergenic is that they do not shed. Their hair
grows constantly just like ours, and that means they need to get
regular hair cuts and have their hair washed. If not, the same
thing happens to their hair as what happens to our own - too much
hair and matted. We like the fact that our dogs do not add
that extra something (hair) to the meals we eat and the clothes we
wear, and we think the time spent grooming or having our poodles
groomed is definitely worth it! |
